Our Mission at Café Kiva was codified back in 2009 after T.S. Gordon attended a premier environmental conference in Florida called “Miami Green.” His vision was to establish a uniquely appealing clean foods Arkansas roadside Café. This is a much-needed type of business model in an otherwise vast food desert.

By 2015, our dreams of funding opportunities had effectively vanished, but we went on a lark and tested the shark-filled waters with a pitch to an affluent group of French investors at “BonAppetech” in San Francisco.

We heard lots of Champagne corks pop and laughter, but not a nibble or a bite!

Supporting good health through every child’s formidable years is critically important.  It’s especially dependent on a family’s access to fresh nutrient-dense foods, clean water and soils, plus a rudimentary education in the science of gastronomy and nutrition.

Both of Café Kiva’s founding officers are inveterate educators. They are Tom-Scott Gordon, a prior architectural photographer with a background in urban demographics and a CPD in Permaculture Design from Geoff Lawton.  Co-Founder Kathryn Harris is our Director of Health Statistics and Curriculum, areas where she excels owing to her formidable 30+ year life skills counseling career with girls and young women in Denver, Colorado.
